Because you have to be prepared!

It's great to take things one day at a time, and live in the present.
But at least once a day, you've got to think about where you've been and where you're going.

If you don't open your eyes and pull your head out of the clouds periodically, you could end up: having your car's engine seize in the middle of an intersection too far from home to push, fall victim to fraud and owe thousands of dollars to the bank over an alleged photo assignment, have to race across four cities to get a new passport and beg them to help you because you fly to Mexico tomorrow morning, and/or get into all sorts of other equally - if not, worse - trouble that you won't always make it out of.

These are all true stories that have actually happened to me. I've finally opened my eyes to the realities of the world; at least for a good long while before the next event does. I've been exceedingly lucky to have made it through those and other blunders unscathed, and live to tell the tale. I can't tell you how many times I've been scared, worried or waiting with baited breath for things to work out in my favor. Who knows when my luck will run out, but for the time being I'm thankful somebody up there still likes me!

These events are so critical to remember in each of our own lives. We aren't living in a Disney movie where good always triumphs over evil. Sometimes the worst does happen - and it's not because we are being punished in some way - wherein a big lesson must be learned in a bold and challenging way.
I've faced a lot of things in my few years of adulthood already that I never thought would happen to me. However, these things could have all been avoided if I had paid more attention and prepared myself. It's not every case that can be solved prior, but if you can - do it!

But that being said, it's good to know the world is still full of people more than willing to help out someone in need. When my car engine died, my dad, uncle and their friend helped me push it to a nearby parking lot and have me a ride home. I've moved to the city since then so on the bright side it's much better that I don't have a card anyway.

It really astounds me how being at the right place at the right time can make all the difference. I had realized my passport was expired the day before I was scheduled to go to Mexico with my family, and had only about an hour to sky train to the end of the to have my picture taken and hope they could process it and give me my renewed passport in time. The flight was for 9am the following morning, so it had to be done right then and there.

If you aren't entirely sure about something there will be risk involved. Risks are okay to take - it's researching and considering possible outcomes that could affect your project in a small or large way. Remember too that the little things make up the whole. So, don't assume because its not the engine, that the car doesn't need it. For a vehicle to run smoothly and efficiently, it needs far much more than gas and an engine. Besides the fact that if you want things done right the first time, you can't count on the world to hand it to you.
